Light at the end of the tunnel

My lovely gardener Bex The Happy Gardener came and did some extra work on Thursday, despite the fact that it was raining. She knew I was fretting to get the new herbs planted before they died in their pots. She was also aware that I was feeling pretty low and on the point of giving up.

Not only did she plant the remaining plants in suitable places in the physic garden and other borders, she also brought me a gift of some cuttings she had taken from her succulents. These are for the new succulents' pot in the front garden.

Bex also brought some cuttings of Verbena Borariensis  for the border. I had planned to plant more lavender in the middle section of the South facing border, but all my lavender cuttings failed. This will be a lovely alternative

The large succulent is now potted (thanks to Bex mixing the correct potting medium, full of grit) in the large pot in the conservatory.

Bex helped me out of the gloom and back onto the road ahead. First step was to resume Alf's walks if the weather was fine and I could put one foot in front of the other in a relatively straight line.

So, on this morning's walk, we spotted some pebbles along the track. Evidence of a community that is very Covid aware.

Alf raced ahead as we walked to Eamonn's favourite resting place. I turned to look at the very rural view behind us. It was at that point that I allowed the tears to flow, before heading back home.
