What day is it?

I've lost track of the days. I blame it on the weather, or Covid-19, or Brexit, or Boris, or, perhaps a combination of them all. At any rate, when the day dawned all bright and sunny, against all the weather forecasts I could find, I decided to walk the dog to the postbox, to post the last of my Christmas cards.

The sun remained firmly fixed, in a cloudless blue sky. What had been planned as a short walk around the block, turned into a much longer expedition. I had forgotten it was Saturday. No one expects good weather at the weekend, especially in the middle of the foul, wet, overcast stuff that has been around for weeks now.

When I got back, the sun continued. I sat in the conservatory, wrapping presents, while Alf sunned himself on the camping chair. Only then did I notice that I had missed three Facetime calls from  my schoolfriend in Manchester - Saturday is her day, mid-morning. I( must email her later today to let her know that all is well.
