I wore my new pinafore dress today, with a jumper I knitted in 2013, while Eamonn was having chemotherapy.
I've always liked it, even though the yarn, Noro Kureyon, is a bit scratchy. A long-sleeved cotton top underneath solves that problem.
The yarn is self-striping and so cheerful, it never fails to lift my spirits.
I was up early this morning, in good time for the Dog Pack's collection of Alf. I decided to make goopd use of the morning and set another recipe cooking in the Thermal Slow Cooker.
I decided to use a cheat recipe that utilises canned food to cut down preparation time. This recipe is from Mr D's Thermal Slow Cooker book. I'm a great one for improvising. I used a box of classic chicken soup, a small can of carrots, and a can of butter beans.
I also omitted the wine, soy sauce. and water, because the soup and butter beans provided all the liquid I needed.
Preparation time (boiling water in the lower inner pot and cooking the pork and other ingredients)n was thereby reduced to 10 mins, with no extra pots needing washing up.
Allowing just over four hours for the thermal cooker to do its stuff, the meal should be ready for lunch today. There is enough for two meals, so the extra will go into the fridge for tomorrow.
