One of my ways of getting through each day is to watch T.V while eating the main meal of the day. I already had a subscription to Amazon Prime and was able to watch Good Omens when it first aired ( before Eamonn died ). I had wanted to see what all the fuss was about the series, The Crown, but it was available only on Netflix. I decided to subscribe at the basic level. Since then I have rarely watched live T.V., apart from Gardeners' World and a few other nature programmes.
I've just finished watching United Kingdom, which was absolutely fascinating.
I won't spoil it for you but, when I learned that the film was based on a true story, I was prepared for a very unhappy ending.
After I had finished watching, I researched the events chronicalled so beautifully in the film.
SPOILERS AHEAD - READ NO FURTHER IF YOU INTEND TO WATCH THE FILM
I vaguely remember the news about the Independence of the Bechuanaland Protectorate, and the Labour MP, Tony Benn's, role in helping the country become the most democratic country (Botswana ) in Southern Africa. Much of the success of Botswana is due to its former Royal family, particularly Seretse Kama, who led the country to Independence and democratic rule.
