To every thing there is a season, and a time to every purpose under the heaven

Eamonn loved the garden. He found it a peaceful, secluded, green haven. He would hardly recognise it anymore. The borders were full of shrubs and trees. The only perennials were the lavender and roses.

Eamonn's garden

New arbour seat and flowering perennials.

Wildflowers in the lawn.

Shrubs replaced by perennials, mainly flowering.

Flowers that had been buried beneath shrubs and trees - yellow, pansy-like flowers.

The physic garden is very new. I planted it last summer, in what was the end of the garden, overgrown by ground cover and weeds.

My gardener, Bex, advised against planting Comfrey, so I didn't. It appeared, unbidden, this year and flowered at the back of the plot. Beloved by bees and a reminder of my Dad, it's staying.

Another wild flower that self-seeded, in a pot in which I grew mint last year, is this magnificent poppy. It too is staying.

The patch beside the shed was the most overgrown part of the garden. The variegated shrub had grown right over the path due to lack of light in what is a very deep border.

Herbs and salad growing in pots and ornamental allium in the border.
