Eamonn (aka MWNN) always did something special for me on Valentine's Day. One year, (2005) he wrote me a Drabble - a story in exactly 100 words. Those were the days when he didn't readily admit to having romantic feelings, let alone demonstrating them. We owned our first terrier at the time; a rescue called Ash. He was a working terrier and a great ratter. I still have a copy of the Drabble hanging from a shelf.
In 2019, Valentine's Day was a couple of weeks before a planned week in Southwold for our anniversary. Eamonn's last Valentine's Day card to me had a hand-written message inside that I framed.
At Eamonn's funeral, the processional music was The Beatles' In My Life - one of Eamonn's favourite songs that he would often ask me to play for him. For this year's Valentine's Day, I have ordered a canvas print of the lyrics to that song. Both the card and print are hanging together in the Conservatory.
Eamonn was my first, and only Valentine.
